4.7 Editing Text
4.7.1 Insert And Delete
Insert Text In A Sentence
When you want to insert
text in the middle of text that you’ve already typed, Word assumes that you
want the existing text to move out of the way to make room for the new text.
Word calls this default behavior insert mode. To insert text, then, you simply
move the insertion point to the place where you want the text to go and start
typing. Any text to the right of the insertion point shifts over as you type.
Note that when you insert text, you usually need to add a space either at the
end of the insertion or at the beginning of the insertion.
Delete Extra
Spacing between Paragraphs
When you want to
delete extra spacing between paragraphs, click at the very end of the first
paragraph, just past the period, and press the Delete key one or more times
until the second paragraph moves up to join the first. You may need to add a
space where the two paragraphs came together.
Select and Delete A Word
You can select Text by Mouse or Keyboard as in
module 4.5 and then press Delete key.
Select Text And Replace It
You can select Text by
Mouse or Keyboard as in module 4.5 and then start typing; this deletes the
selected text and replaces it with the text you type.
4.7.2 Reversing The Recent Changes
To undo the recent
action, click the Undo button on the Standard toolbar or press ctrl+. To
continue undoing previous actions one by one, keep clicking the Undo button or
pressing Ctrl+Z.
If you know that you
want to undo something you did a few minutes ago and don’t want to click the
Undo button several times, click the Down arrow to the right of the Undo
button. This displays a list of all your actions, with the most recent action
at the top. Scroll down the list and click the action that you want to undo.
Word undoes all of your actions back to and including the one you click.
