4.14.4   Drawing Own Graphics

 

Add an AutoShape, circle, or square:

1.   On the Drawing toolbar, click AutoShapes, point to a category, and then click the shape you want.

2.   To insert a shape with a predefined size, click the document.

3.   To insert a different size, drag the shape to the size you want. To maintain the shape's width-to-height ratio, hold down SHIFT while you drag the shape.

 

Tips :

To draw a circle or square, click Oval or Rectangle on the Drawing toolbar, and then click the document.

To add color, change borders, rotate, or add shadow or 3-D effects to an AutoShape, select the object, and then use the buttons on the Drawing toolbar.

 

Insert a WordArt drawing object

You can insert decorative text by using Insert WordArt on the Drawing toolbar. You can create shadowed, skewed, rotated, and stretched text, as well as text that has been fitted to predefined shapes.

 

1.    On the Drawing toolbar, click Insert WordArt.

2.    Click the type of WordArt drawing object you want, and then click OK.

3.    In the Edit WordArt Text dialog box, type the text you want to format, select any other options you want, and then click OK.

4.    To add or change effects to the text, use the buttons on the WordArt and Drawing toolbars. The WordArt toolbar appears when you click the WordArt special text.


4.15 Creating Tables and Charts

4.15.1 Creating a Table

 

4.15.1.1 Inserting The Table

 

1.       Click where you want to create a table.

2.       Do one of the following to Insert a Table:

  • Click Insert Table  on the Standard toolbar 

    Drag to select the number of rows and columns you want.

  • From the Table Menu click Insert-Table

    Set the number of rows and columns for the table you want to insert.

 

4.15.1.2    Typing the Text

 

Click on the cell where you want to type text and just type in the text. If the entry is too wide to fit in the cell word automatically wraps the text to the next line and increases the row height. Click Tab, Up arrow, Down arrow, Left arrow, Right arrow to navigate through the cells of the table.

 

4.15.1.3   Adjusting the width of the columns

 

Reset the pointer on the column boundary you want to move until it becomes and then drag the boundary until the column is the width you want.

 

Note: To change a column width to a specific measurement, click a cell in the column. On the Table menu, click Table Properties, and then click the Column tab. Choose the options you want.

 

4.15.1.4 Auto adjustment for the column width

 

To make the columns in a table automatically fit the contents, click a table, point to AutoFit on the Table menu, and then click AutoFit to Contents. 

 


4.15.2     Inserting and Deleting Rows And Columns

 

4.15.2.1 Steps to insert a column

 

1.   Select the same number of columns as the number of columns you want to insert.

2.   On the Tables and Borders toolbar, click the arrow next to Insert Table, and then click the Insert columns to the right or Insert columns to the left command.

 

Note: - To quickly add a column to the right of the last column in a table, click just outside the rightmost column. On the Table menu, point to Insert, and then click Columns to the Right.

 

4.15.2.2    Type text in the new column

 

Click on the new column and just type in the text.

 

4.15.2.3    Insert a row

 

1.   Select the same number of rows as the number of rows you want to insert.

2.   On the Tables and Borders toolbar, click the arrow next to Insert Table, and then click the Insert rows above or rows below

 

Note: - To quickly add a row at the end of a table, click the last cell of the last row, and then press the TAB key.

 

4.15.2.4    Delete a column

 

1.  Select the columns you want to delete.

2.  On the Table menu, point to Delete, and then click Columns.
