The
Formatting
Toolbar
5.9.3.1
Changing
Number
Format
Formatting
toolbar
has
lot
of
buttons
that
you
can
quickly
apply
to
numerical
data
on
the
worksheet.
These
buttons
are
–
Currency
Style,
Percentage
Style
and
Comma
Style.
Each
of
the
style
has
a
default
number
of
decimal
points
that
you
can
change
with
the
help
of
Increase
Decimal
and
Decrease
Decimal
buttons.
Before
we
try
our
hands
make
a
note
that
when
you
change
the
number
format,
some
of
the
cells
might
display
a
row
of
number
signs
(#)
rather
than
the
actual
values.
This
indicates
that
the
columns
are
not
wide
enough
to
display
the
entire
numbers.
If
you
simply
increase
the
column
width
the
actual
numbers
come
in
to
display.

Select
cell
B18:B19

currency
style
button
on
the
Formatting
Toolbar

you
can
apply
the
currency
style
to
all
the
columns.

Changing
Date
format
1.
Select
cell
A3,
which
contains
the
current
date.

right
mouse
button.
On
the
Shortcut
menu,
select
Format
Cells.
The
Format
Cells
dialog
box
opens.

In
the
dialog
box,
click
the
Number
tab,
if
it
is
not
already
selected.
The
number
tab
opens,
displaying
the
formatting
options
for
numbers.
As
you
can
see,
there
are
many
built-in
number
formats
to
select
from.

list,
select
Date.

Type:
list,
select
a
day-month-year
format
(dd/mmm/yy).
Click
on

button.
The
date
display
changes
to
the
format
you
have

Adding
Borders
If
you
want
to
highlight
a
particular
area
of
the
worksheet
or
a
specific
cell,
you
can
make
use
of
Borders
and
Color
formatting.
You
can
add
a
single
line
or
multiple
lines
along
one
side
or
around
the
cell;
you
can
shade
a
cell
in
one
of
the
many
patterns
of
Colours.

the
SALES.xls
worksheet
select
A3:E3.

formatting
toolbar,
click
the
down
next
to
the
Borders
button.

palette
with
the
different
border
opens..

Change
The
Font
Of
Entire
Worksheet
Open
worksheet
of
your
choice
and:
1.
Select
the
entire
worksheet.
2.
On
the
Format
menu,
click
Cells
and
then
click
the
Font
tab.
The
font
choices
are
displayed.
3.
In
the
font
box
scroll
downward
and
select
any
font
of
your
choice.
4.
In
the
size
box,
select
any
size
of
your
choice.
Click
OK
once
you
are
through
with
your
selections.
The
dialog
box
closes
and
the
font
in
your
worksheet
changes
along
with
the
point
size
you
want.

Change
To
Font
For
The
Entire
Workbook
To
change
the
font
of
the
entire
workbook,
it
is
suggested
that
you
change
the
style
called
as
Normal.
Normal
is
the
name
of
the
default
style
that
every
new
workbook
is
formatted
with.
1.
On
the
Format
menu,
click
Style.
The
style
includes
list
displays
of
all
the
formatting
included
in
Normal
style.
When
you
apply
a
style
to
cells,
all
the
formatting
attributes
of
the
style
are
applied.
2.
Click
Modify
and
then
click
the
Font
tab.
3.
In
the
Font
box,
select
any
font
and
in
size
box,
select
any
size
you
desire.
4.
Click
OK
to
close
the
Format
Cells
dialog
box
and
then
click
OK
to
close
the
Style
dialog
box.
5.
Select
any
worksheet
of
the
workbook;
you
will
see
that
the
font
has
changes
throughout
the
workbook.
Even
if
you
select
a
new
worksheet
and
type
a
few
words,
you
will
find
that
the
typing
is
formatted
with
the
new
font
and
