4.2.1 Opening a document

Click on Open button on standard toolbar or choose File, Open to
display the Open Dialog box. Or you can use the keyboard shortcut i.e. Ctr
+ O to open the file.

Choose the file you want to open. By default word files are stored
in My Document folder but in case you have want to open the saved
somewhere else.

Select the file and Click on Open button.
Try to explore the Open Document Dialog box.
4.2.2. Save a file with a
new name
-
Open the file you want to save with a different name.

Click on the Save As option from File menu.

Save File As Dialog box pops up.
-
Type the new name and select the folder where you want to save the
document.

Click on Save button to save the file.
4.2.3 Display/Hiding of
paragraph marks and inter word space
Click on show/hide button on the Standard Toolbar. This
will display the inter word spaces as soft dots and Enter or Paragraph marks as
a paragraph marks.
1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click
the View tab.
2. Under Formatting marks, select the check boxes
next to the characters you want to display.
Tip: To
display
all
formatting
marks,
select
the
‘All’
check
box
instead
of
selecting
each
individual
check
box.
You
can
also
turn
the
All
option
on
or
off
by
clicking
Show/Hide.
4.2.4 Moving around in a
document
4.2.4.1 Scrolling through
a document
Some documents are too big to be displayed in their
entirety on screen. You reveal unseen portions of your document by scrolling to
bring parts of the document into view while temporarily hiding other parts.
There are so many ways and tools, which help you, scroll through a
document. The following figure explains
all of them:-
